PETA Calls for Boycott of Indian Leather

PETA India and its world-wide affiliates have relaunched a campaign to boycott Indian leather and to encourage consumers to shun all leather. This is after a failure by the government to enforce minimal animal protection laws and a refusal by the Council for Leather Exports to initiate steps to stop its members from supporting illegal slaughterhouses. The campaign has already reaped some success with two US retail giants, Kenneth Cole and Liz Claiborne, informing PETA that they will not sell leather from India. Keep visiting petaDishoom.com to learn how you can help.

SCREAM

Münch Der Schrei jpg.jpg

Two years ago, thieves broke into the Munch Museum in Oslo and made off with Norwegian artist Edvard Munchs The Scream - and it has not been seen or heard of since. Now, PETA is offering to replace the priceless artwork with a new Scream by Italian artist Marinella Corregia except for one detail: The screamer in the centre of the nightmarish landscape is still a pale, ghostly figure with a gaping mouth but, instead of skin, Coreggias subject has scales. PETA and Corregia hope that substituting a fish as the tortured victim will raise public awareness about the silent screams of fish who are killed for food and sport.
