No Form of Abuse Is Ever Acceptable

Whether you are a fresher or a frog, no one deserves to be a victim of ragging. It is important to remember that violence and inhumane treatment is dangerous and damaging not only to our fellow classmates, but also to our fellow creatures. We must take violence toward animals serious for the sake of everyone, because as studies have shown, those who hurt animals rarely stop there.
Researchers and law enforcement officials have long known that animal abusers often move on to human prey. Study after study has confirmed the link between cruelty to animals and violence against humans. In fact, statistics compiled by a researcher at Yale University, show that a staggering 80 percent of convicted violent criminals have histories of abusing animals. Another study done by Northeastern University found that people who hurt animals are five times more likely to commit violent crimes against humans than those who do not.
Unfortunately, just like ragging, animal abuse is often shrugged off by authorities - even in the face of horrific violence. So what can you do? Do not just sit there! Stand up for animals. If you do not, who will? After all, animals, who cannot speak for themselves, need our protection - and the evidence shows that if we do not combat animal abuse, the abusers will soon move on to their fellow humans. After all, today the target might be a frog - but tomorrow it might be a fresher.
